Voter Registration for the March 20 Primary Election

Evanston League Deputy Registrars will provide voter registration to the community on three Saturday afternoons in February. Voter registration closes on Tuesday, February 21.
Deputy registrars are asked to call Mary Morris, Voter Registration chair, at 847-475-5572, or email at 550morris@live.com to participate.

LWVE February Luncheon and Presentation on Youth Job Center of Evanston

Speaker: Sacella Smith, Executive Director of the Youth Job Center of Evanston. In recognition of her work there, Ms. Smith was given the Community Impact Award by the NAACP this fall.
Presentation: Youth Job Center of Evanston.
Ms. Smith will explain the vital work that the Youth Job Center (YJC) of Evanston is doing to address the challenge of finding jobs for young people, an important priority for Evanston and the whole country. Since its founding in 1983, the YJC has served almost 2500 clients. The Center provides a plethora of programs to prepare them for the work-force and provide them with the skills they need, assists them in contacting employers, and continues to help them improve their skills and understand workplace expectations.
The cost, which includes lunch, is $20 per person and should be paid at the door.
Reservations should be made by Monday, February 20, by calling the LWVE office at 847-866-7844; or by emailing the LWVE office, lwvevanston@att.net with RESERVATION in the subject line. Please include your name and any guests you may be bringing to the luncheon.

Speaker: Dr. Elizabeth Kelly, Professor of Women's and Gender Studies at DePaul University
Presentation: Eleanor Roosevelt in the White House Years.
Professor Kelley will focus on the years in the White House when Eleanor Roosevelt deepened her commitment to progressive causes and sharpened her skills in the public arena.
The cost, which includes lunch, is $20 per person and should be paid at the door.
