Students–
Civic Engagement even if you're not 18
Be informed. Know what your local government and school board are doing and let them know when you support or oppose their actions. Your opinion matters.
Help educate your classmates and the public about voter registration and the election process, especially changes in election rules.
Be an election judge or equipment manager in the next election. Earn money while filling needed positions to make our elections run smoothly.
Follow an issue that interests you and advocate with elected officials for the actions you think they should take. Examples include climate action, affordable housing, redistricting, environmental justice, health equity, economic development, etc.
Build skills– advocacy, public speaking, writing, organizing. Intern or volunteer to learn and practice these skills.
Register new voters or voters who have moved to a new address since the last election. You can become a deputy registrar as long as you will be 18 by the date of the next primary or general election.
The League of Women Voters of Evanston (LWVE) can help you– both men
and women– become involved!
