The League of Women Voters Evanston strives to increase citizen understanding of public-policy issues and to promote citizen participation in government. Since This Is Evanston was first published by LWVE in 1949, it has pursued the goal of helping women learn how their government works, assisting newcomers in understanding their new community, and providing a useful resource guide for all Evanston residents. We also aim to convey a sense of the special character of Evanston that grows from its rich history.
