Who we are and what we do
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan grassroots political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan; it neither supports nor opposes candidates for office at any level of government. At the same time, the League is wholeheartedly political and works to influence policy through advocacy. Click here for additional information.

By empowering voters, advocating for issues, and influencing public policy we defend democracy and safeguard everyone’s rights.

What’s in it for you

How to become involved

Special membership opportunity
While you don’t need to be a member to work with us, we invite young women and men, aged 16 to 26 who are interested in civic engagement, to join the LWVE for an annual membership fee of $20. Emerging Leader members will have full voting rights, need not be US citizens, and will automatically be members of the state and national LWV and receive news and information from every level of the LWV.
